What's new in Kiiwi
Every version of the Mac app, newest first. Kiiwi updates itself; to get the latest now, choose Check for Updates… in its menu. Or follow the update feed in your reader.
Kiiwi 1.2.7 Latest
20 October 2026
- Fixed: on some Bluetooth headphones, like AirPods Max, Kiiwi's sound could fail once the headphones changed their audio buffer, and only a restart brought it back. It now keeps playing.
- Fixed: Kiiwi no longer keeps the audio output busy while it's silent. After a few minutes without a sound it steps back, so your Mac and AirPods can switch audio normally, and it's back on your next key.
Kiiwi 1.2.6
12 October 2026
- New: Show Dock Icon and Typing Test… now sit in the menu bar menu. Typing Test opens straight to the test, and clicking Kiiwi in the Dock opens Settings.
- Improved: in Settings, then Basics, the Linear, Tactile, Clicky, Mouse and Scroll tabs stay at the top while the cards scroll, and each switch starts at the top of its list.
- Fixed: the switch at the top of the menu bar menu could look grey even while Kiiwi was on. It's now blue whenever Kiiwi is on.
- Fixed: turning the Dock icon on or off no longer makes the Settings window flicker, and Show Playground no longer wraps onto two lines.
Kiiwi 1.2.5
10 October 2026
- Improved: lower volume settings are now properly quiet. 30% sounds about half as loud as 100%, where before the two were hard to tell apart. If Kiiwi feels quieter after this update, nudge the slider up.
Kiiwi 1.2.4
9 October 2026
- New: separate volume for mouse clicks and scroll ticks, so they can sit quieter than your typing. Settings, then Basics, under Volume.
- New: a switch for the mute shortcut. ⇧⌘K mutes Kiiwi from any app, and Settings, Basics now shows it with its own toggle, so you can turn it off and free the keys for another app.
- Improved: tapping the trackpad no longer plays a click. Pressing it down, and every mouse click, still does.
- Improved: the main volume now sets switch sounds only. Mouse clicks and scroll ticks keep their own levels, so moving one never changes the others.
- Fixed: some keystrokes could play late, or as the wrong sound, after you changed the volume or muted Kiiwi. Every key now plays the right sound, right on time.
- Fixed: the volume in the menu bar and in Settings now move together, and 100% fits on one line.
Kiiwi 1.2.3
9 October 2026
- Added separate volume sliders for mouse clicks and scroll ticks, so they can sit quieter than your typing. Find them in Settings, under Volume.
Kiiwi 1.2.2
9 October 2026
- Removed the Opera GX and Fallout Terminal packs. If you had one selected, Kiiwi switches to NovelKeys Cream.
- Clearer sound credits in the app.
- The contact email in Settings is now hello@kiiwi.app.
Kiiwi 1.2.1
6 October 2026
- Kiiwi is now notarized by Apple, so it opens with no security warning.
- One-time step after this update. macOS may ask you to switch Kiiwi off and on again in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Accessibility, because the app has a new signature.
Kiiwi 1.2.0
6 October 2026
- New typing test in Settings, then Test. Race the clock for 15 to 120 seconds, or type 10 to 100 words, on whichever switch you are using. Switch on punctuation or numbers for harder text.
- Zen: the same timed test, with everything else on your screen faded out. Your best score shows under Stats.
- A phone trial now locks the hour it ends, not up to a day later.
- A smaller download: 6.6 MB, down from 8.9 MB.
Kiiwi 1.1.2
4 October 2026
- Kiiwi is back to 0% CPU when idle. Closed Settings and welcome windows were still redrawing in the background; they now stop completely.
- The key count in the menu bar only redraws when the number changes.
Kiiwi 1.1.1
3 October 2026
- Fixed the sound cards in Settings scattering across the window instead of lining up in a grid.
- Updating within 1.1 no longer shows What’s New again.
Kiiwi 1.1
2 October 2026
- Every switch at the same loudness: each pack is levelled on its own, so quiet ones like Topre and Box Navy are up to 15 dB louder, and 50% on the slider now sounds like half.
- No lag in front of a key: every sample is trimmed to just before the switch bottoms out. Banana Split and Glorious Panda feel much snappier.
- Scroll ticks: a soft tick for every notch you scroll, in six styles. Pick one under Scroll Ticks in the menu.
- Typing stats: today's keys, a 14-day chart, a streak, typing speed, top apps and fun facts, all kept on your Mac. Export or reset them in Settings.
- Share cards: turn your week into a card in colours, gradients or wallpapers, and post it.
- A new Settings window, a welcome tour, and hover to hear any switch in the menu.
- Quiet in password fields: Kiiwi goes silent whenever macOS protects a password.
Kiiwi 1.0.6
25 September 2026
- 6 new mouse click sounds: Microswitch, a close-up real mouse button, plus Woodblock, Bubblewrap, Drip, Switch and Snap. Pick one under Mouse Clicks in the menu bar.
- Every new sound has its own press and release, and the right button is pitched a touch lower so you can tell them apart.
Kiiwi 1.0.5
24 September 2026
- Switches sound fuller and closer on headphones: keystrokes now play at the same level as the website playground, about twice as loud as before at the same volume setting.
- Less pitch wobble between keystrokes, so each press sounds like the same real switch rather than a slightly different one.
Kiiwi 1.0.4
20 September 2026
- Deactivating this Mac now brings the unlock screen straight back, so you can enter another key without relaunching. It used to quit the app instead.
- If a licence stops being valid while Kiiwi is running, the unlock screen comes back rather than leaving the app running with no licence and no way to enter one.
Kiiwi 1.0.3
20 September 2026
- Updating no longer asks for your keychain password, and no longer forgets your licence. Your activation now lives in a file sealed to this Mac, so it survives updates and reinstalls.
- You will be asked for your key once more on this update, and never again.
Kiiwi 1.0.2
20 September 2026
- Cmd+V pastes again. The app had no main menu, and macOS looks up the editing shortcuts there before they reach the field, so Paste, Copy, Cut and Select All did nothing anywhere in Kiiwi.
Kiiwi 1.0.1
20 September 2026
- Licence keys activate again. The app was upper-casing the key before checking it, and keys are case-sensitive, so every valid key came back unrecognised.
Kiiwi 1.0.0
20 September 2026
- First release. 38 switch packs, 2 mouse packs, and the menu bar app that plays them.
